Foundation KAKULHAA was born for the sustainable defense and development from the Mayan People, Xincas and Garifunas of Guatemala, through the organization of a group of Elders, Spiritual Guides, of the different existing ethnic groups in the country.

The Foundation was created in October 1996 by the Council of Old Mayans, Xincas and Garifunas. And the 28 of August 2007, it was made official under Ministerial agreement no. 280-97 of the Minister of Interior.

It has legal person and it is a private organization composed by its general assembly, a Directing Assembly/Council of 7 members, a committee of institutional support and a group of consultative of several cultures that advise and help in the mediation of the Foundation with the institutional world.

The Kakulhaa Foundation is a non-political and nonlucrative organization who represents the Councils of the indigenous people and the Old members of the National Council of Mayan Spiritual Guides, Xincas and Garifunas of Guatemala with the purpose of conduct formal actions for the development of the country of Guatemala with base to the Mayan cosmovision.
